A little History on us..
Before there was a Little Class Records, there was a kid who grew up poor white trash around a bunch of old Nashville pickers. His name was Jody Hendrix. Hendrix grew up dreaming of making music. By age 14, bands were formed and little free festivals were being held in public parks.
Fast forward 15 years..
After a stint in the military and loads of bad life decisions, Them Damned Young Livers came to be. TDYL was a reckless cowpunk band who spent a majority of 2008 to 2011 attempting to take over the world with their brand of ruckus, traveling as far as their veggie oil fueled short bus would take them. Despising the high prices of commercial recording studios, The Livers invested in their own el cheapo insta-studio recording kit to self produce their second album, Psalms of Ill-Repute. Eventually, the Livers started recording friends’ projects for super reasonable prices. Sometimes free even. In 2010, they would record “Slide Dog Billy” for almost legendary KC Bluesman Billy Beale. Looking at serious prison time due to a string of bad decisions, Beale would need money on the books. So Hendrix and long time supporter/friend, Matt Dennis sat down with a pen, paper and plan to release Billy’s album. Little Class Records was born.
In 2013 Little Class Records teamed up With The Westport Saloon to harness the energy happening in Kansas City. Westport Roots Festival was born of this relationship. We’ve been going strong every since with no sign of slowing down.
