Monzie Leo and The Big Sky

Folk infused roots music with a hip edge from the Lawrence, Ks.

Monzie Leo has a HUGE voice and even a larger personality. His musical upbringing is that of crust punk, metal and hardcore. Being from the great plains of Kansas, Roots music made it’s way into ML’s soul at some point. Accompanied by gypsy like fiddle and traditional banjo, This straight up Americana song writing carries wit, intelligent lyricism and killer 3 part harmonies that will leave you in awe.

Monzie Leo and The Big Sky stay busy and relentlessly work the independent circuit, making friends everywhere they go. Expect a new album on LCR in 2016!

“I can’t decide if you guys are really smart or totally switchblade crazy,”

“There’s something dark, even sinister, about the way that Grady and Long work their strings together, and Brummet’s clear, prairiewide voice sounds ready to sing about aliens or taxes with equal conviction.”

Natalie Gallagher

Music Editor, The Pitch

“The booming voice of Monzie Leo carries a message of Midwest dreams and fading romances on the impressive record Sunflowers, Sunsets, and Sons of Bitches..”
